I got ice in my veins, blood in my eyes, hate in my heart, love in my mind.

BOYS, GUYS, MEN, MALES.
Why do they matter so much? Unfortunately, male being the only other sex besides females, me as a female and many other females connect with a male. A male being the main specimen for a miracle such as a baby, in which most females wish to have makes the connection more valuable. So therefore, the males we connect with as friends, lovers or simply family may play an important role in our lives.
Violence being a big issue and it being impacted on males make us bother with the influence of violence by media on our males, in which it is possible to affect us as well. Although, in the media we have the “ideal male” and the “violent male”. We have the ideal image of males, why should the violent male’s image matter? In my opinion, the violent male mattes more than the ideal male seeing as the media has normalized violent males so much more, that it is more likely to find a violent male rather than an ideal male which are found mainly in the media.
Influence of violence in the male media has made a huge remark worldwide by statistics showing that in the world 90% of violent crimes are committed by males. However, 70% of the victims of violent crimes are also males; this statistic had more of a surprise on me. Although it does surprise me, I could see HOW these statistics are realistic. This shows that yes, most crimes are committed by males, but also majority of the victims are males. This could prove the “ideal male” image by knowing its male to male violence most of the time, rather then male to the female victim; perceiving a protective ideal man against woman. Though, this does show that influence of violence of media is being normalized. In the media for males we have, movies, reality and casual television, music, videos, games in which all involve male violence. For males in the media there is UFC in which male to male boxing fights take place, in which most males are a big fan of, male video games is mainly men to men characters shooting/blowing each other up. Though in my eyes I see it as fighting just being normal/entertainment or even fun for males either involving the media or not. Men tend to grow up as fighting just comes naturally, but it being more of a passion or entertainment to them.
Men are portrayed just as much as women in the media. Though when it comes to influence of violence men are at a higher chance of involvement. Although it’s the same thing of influence of females in media, men are portrayed to cause more violence actions then females usually do.. In females influence of media rarely involves fighting with machinery or any sorts of weapons, nor does the media have pass time hobbies involved influence of violence.

“Boys will be boys”
When I hear this, it makes me think they have the right of way, and everything they do is okay because their males. I feel by this quote being portrayed in media by females themselves encourages the males to think it is okay, and it has some value of power. So, by us saying it we are only encouraging it, although in the media violence Is a big issue. I feel that as boys at a young age they shouldn’t live up to maintain this quote.

ADVERTISEMENTS

This advertisement of Levi’s jeans is an example of the advertising theme Attitude Is Everything because the young man is being rebellious by hanging off something similar to a bridge. By showing this action with the city in the background it gives off that he’s on top of the world. Also having hissunglasses on in a dark, no sunlight environment gives off a cool look and describes the male trait as dominant, rebellious and cool which are desirable male traits received by this ad.

This advertisement of Dolce & Gabanna is an example of the advertising theme Heroic Masculinity because it shows how the finely dressed men have saved a woman from other formally dressed men using weapons such as guns and knives. The finely dressed men being heroic and masculine for her defense.

This advertisement of Dolce & Gabanna is an example of The New Warriors archetypes because it shows the use of manliness on their products. Also targets young boys and adolescent males by showing that violence is cool, suave and acceptable by females.

This advertisement of Marlboro cigarettes is an example of The Cave Man Mentality advertising theme because it’s the use of the violent male icon such as the cowboy making it demonstrate masculinity

This advertisement of Armani Exchange underwear is an example of the advertising theme Muscles and the “Ideal Man” because it shows a man with a rippling, muscular body with size and strength perceived as the ideal image of manhood. OUR time to SHINE *

November 20th, 2009 …

BEST EDUCATIONAL TRIP EVER! Relating to our units we’ve learned in media you took us to MOD, where we participated in being a live audience.
This experience was beyond surprising, I always thought that the hosts of these live shows somehow read off scripts when on air, though as I struggled to find where they read their lines off of I realized that there was nothing. They memorize their scripts, and remember everything to do and say on their own. It’s amazing because they provide so much information, and have to know all their actions in an hour show that goes by rapidly fast. Yes, there were times when they struggled, but they covered it up fine. It was interesting to see how they viewed things, and how they feel about their job. They love it, no nerves or anything and see themselves as equals to the rest of us. They don’t feel as if their something big, which they are in a viewers eyes, they look as themselves as normal people doing their job, but loving it way more than others love theirs.
Although there wasn’t a celebrity guest, we got to observe a lot more things that went on when the cameras weren’t rolling. The hosts of MOD were Tim Deegan and Sarah Taylor who kept us entertained and informed about the media, music industry and celebrity news and gossip. They do this in a way which makes it interesting to listen to; they would ask someone from the audience to answer a question to have it viewed in another opinion. When they do this, it makes other want to listen because the person from the audience is most likely just like them, who’s not very much famous as the hosts. They keep everyone entertained by giving us the latest or newest videos, taking requests and just being friendly and lively overall. When the show airs the hosts, people who own the show and celebrity’s who receive publicity are making money. Things they discuss in the show, can either offend people, or support people such as when they talked about the weight of people, and what they should do about it. This could’ve offended people concerned about their weight, or supported people who are trying to help themselves with that weight. The hosts use examples or quotes from celebrity, this way our attention is definitely caught, and the discussion becomes more believable. The lifestyle portrayed in this message, is the message of caring about the media/celebrity lifestyle, but not revolving your life around it. Clues such as Sarah letting the audience give their opinion on the weight issue gives that portrayal. Viewers’ interests are showed by telling/showing the message in this particular way. This makes them feel equal, and accepted.

I feel that this trip was overall the best, thanks to you. The Television Museum was actually quite observing of how much technology changed. The free time was great, something no other teach would do, only the cool ones. :)

SUCCESS is a ladder, that cannot be climbed with your hands in your pockets

A documentary. Hearing it, doesn’t even draw to my attention. In my opinion documentaries to me seem to be boring and over informative presented with monotone voices of actual events. To tell you the truth when you handed out the assignment, I was not looking forward to it at all. I may be giving off a false judgement since I personally haven’t watched many documentaries to appreciate they’re meaning. Unfortunately, an assignment is an assignment that has to be done. Researching for this project had to be the easiest; it wasn’t as hard as other assignments. There were many sources and a lot of available information. Finding the facts were simple, but beyond boring. Though the research was surprisingly interesting, different to learn about and definitely knowledge you should be informed about. Once we had the information, and were ready to film I thought it’d be us sitting at a desk, reading scripts (boring). Although, we knew that’s not what viewers wanted to fall asleep to. So we did our documentary in a more alive manner. Filming our documentary was the highlight of our project, it was fun to do – the bloopers could tell you that. We made our documentary seem as realistic as it could be; providing information, taking interviews (best movie of the 1980’s) and making it seem news-like important. I honestly had the best time filming our documentary, and consider is the most fun project I’ve ever had. Comparing our video to the majority of the class was similar. Therefore there wasn’t much variety of creativity, but there was a few. Some groups made their video to be more of a movie; I personally thought it was advanced and easier to pay attention to. The only downer of these video were the lack of being able to gather information off of. Even thought it wasn’t the task assigned I still thought it was a good way in representing the era. Aspects that worked out smoothly in the documentaries was finding out the information and putting it together. Filming, putting the videos together and editing has there rough edges. Researching the information was easiest because more than needed was available for us anywhere we looked. Making the actual documentary was tricky because you had to figure it out yourselves, agree on a decision with the rest of your group members and learn how to edit videos on your own. What I liked most of the videos was everyone physically representing their era’s by what they wore, things they did and actions they made This appealed to me most because its different too look back and see something different with your naked eye of the certain era. Though I did notice that some of the fashions then, are making a extensive comeback now. Finding out interesting facts like that from these documentaries, made them so much more memorable. Another aspect I was amazed at was the technologies and inventions of these earlier era’s and how underdeveloped they are compared to the new highly renewed and transformed technology.

often imitated - but never duplicated

Avril Lavigne - Girlfriend

"Hey, Hey, You, You,
I don’t like your girlfriend
No way, No way,
I think you need a new one
Hey, Hey, You, You,
I could be your girlfriend"
~
The Rubinoos - I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend

"Hey, You, I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend
Trying to say I wanna be your number one
Hey, You, I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend
Gonna make you love me before I'm done "

I know you all know Avril's song, but have you ever heard of The Rubinoos? If they really were alike wouldn't The Rubinoos song been as known as Girlfriend?
How alike are they to you? Five words are the same. Approximately 10% of the lyrics have the same words. Why's this such a big deal? In 2007 Avril Lavigne was being sued for ripping off one of a 1970s rock band founder Tommy Dubar's tune. Tommy Dubar and James Gangwer claimed that the two song have identical lyrics, meter and rhythm. In my opinion, there were
completely different. The Rubinoos version of "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend" is more slow, with a weak meter and less flow in rhythm. Avril Lavigne's version of "Girlfriend" is more fast with a strong meter and has a huge flow. If I was in Avril's position I would've known that i'm only being sued because my song was a hit, and they're just jealous. Avril herself co-wrote the song with Luke Gottwald and stated that she "never heard this song in my life" referring to "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend". She also believes that the two songs "have no musical similarities". Though both songs share the same lyrics and emotions she believes that not only these two songs do, but all songs. She quotes "As humans we speak one language." She strongly believed that she never ripped anyone off especially "The Rubinoos" who she never heard of before. She even mentions other artists with the same lyrical words and emotions to prove she has done nothing wrong such as "Hey Little Girl I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend by the Ramones. At this time many more songwriter's and producers started attacking Avril, she didn't just take it, she attacked back. She made it clear who she was, what she has accomplished and who she wants and who she doesn't want in her life. Agreeing with Avril, I believe she did nothing wrong. She did not break the copyright law. She copied five words, and didn't even know she was doing it! Though this issue has put Avril in an image change, not nearly as bad as other cases. The whole issue of plagiarism may cause her fans and anyone who listens to her music to think differently. To wonder, did she write the lyrics? or are they from another 1970s rock band? This isn't as bad as others, and she did eventually recover.

FAN MAIL

Subject: PICK ME PICK ME PICK ME

From: Leah Torks

HEY MONICA!
OMG - im going to be amazingly lucky if you choose my question to answer!
so, i know your answering fan mail questions this week and your going to want to answer the most interesting question..
well, i think mine is the one:

Are you going to turn out just like the other celebrities - posting nude pics and follow in events such as?
What is your opinion on these postings that have already happend?

IM A BIG FAN, LOVE YOU!
... and im hoping your answer is the answer i was looking for

_____________________________________________________________________________________

WOW, Leah .. your question is definately one that has to be answered. This fan mail outstandingly stood out from the other questions, and thank god it did.
Theres actually A LOT i can say about actions such as nude pics and events that follow. ITS DISGUSTING!!! I vividly remember the first one I saw, I think it was Vanessa Hudgens? I'm not sure, but it was about 2 weeks after I finished writing the lyrics to my hit single. I remember saying to myself, how WRONG that is! Its just disrespectful to not only yourself but EVERYONE. I had passion for her before that event, but now - i see her as a whole different person. By doing what she did, she didn't only lose her dignity and respect, but she lost her FANS AND LOVED ONES. I honestly, would HATE to lose you guys! I was also a fan of hers, but no longer am.. cant see my self supporting someone with that kind of mind. She didn't only lose you guys, imagine what her PARENTS thought. I know if I were to do that, I would be put into a adopting home a few seconds later! I wouldn't even live if i knew what my loved ones thought of me as. I think that those kind of actions should NOT be thought about. To have the guts to do that, is just wrong. Its not something to be proud about, or something to keep others satisfied. Even after this event, and the downer from it, other celebrities didn't learn! Next was, Miley Cyrus then Rihanna and Cassie. These amazing artists with so much talent. WHAT ARE THEY DOING? They have EVERYTHING they could ever want! Why did they need this? You'd think they'd have the same opinion as me, but unfortunately they learned the hard way. These girls with such amazing lifestyles, and now with such shame against them. I don't get how taking nude pictures is so ... appealing? Is there really a need to TAKE PICTURES!? You know its going to get out - in the celebrity world NOTHING can be kept a dirty little secret. One way or another there going to get you. If you know your going to get caught, why do it? These celebrities being as big as they are should've known the difference between paparazzi and HACKERS. Hackers who got into there computers, found the pictures and ruined their lives! But even pressing the button to take the picture already called them on. I actually couldn't believe that something like this happened! Yes, celebrities are NOT perfect - but it doesn't have to be shown in THIS way! All these pictures, from every single girl was for their boyfriends - lucky them? Not so lucky girls, worryingly enough i don't think even after these 4 girls that these postings are going to stop. Celebrities cant seem to get their boyfriends on lock down - are the boys not satisfied enough? Thier girlfriends ARE already big stars, but they want more? For a guy to want this from their girlfriend, or even expect this from their girlfriend is just not worthy. He's clearly not good enough for you, if who you are FULLY DRESSED isn't enough for him. Nude pictures are just unnecessary. For me to do this, I would give up my celebrity status, lose respect and dignity for myself. Actually, i think i would go suicidal. Leah, i would NEVER do it! EVER, EVER, EVER .. i promise! To all my fans, supporters and loved ones - I give you my word in promising never to let you down like this! Actions such as never even cross my mind! Though, i don't have a boyfriend - i promise you that I'll find one that appreciates me FULLY dressed :) I hope this is the answer you wanted Leah! Thanks for having a question that was meant to be answered.

LOVE YOU ALL ♥

dream to be in my shoes *

hey loves! whats up :)

one word: W O W

the most important part of my blog today is:
THANK YOU GUYS TIMES INFINITY
I LOVE ALL YOU FANS AND SUPPORTERS WHO’VE HELPED ME REACH THIS HIGH
I COULDN’T HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YOU GUYS AND I WOULDN’T HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YOU GUYS

There’s not a limit on how much I love all you fans and supporters whose put my song on the top charts. This is an amazing experience to wake up too, though others are also reaching for the top - you’ve chosen to support me. This feeling is amazing and it would’ve never happened if it wasn’t for my amazing fans, and those who supported me. Once again, I would be nothing without you guys, and I can’t thank you enough.

Just a year ago I was at rock bottom, thanks to you guys now, my heart jumps when I hear my voice on the radio. This new life is such a change and I’m such a noob! HAHA. To tell you guy’s the “famous life” truth – you may think from the looks of it that it’s all easy as long as you have it made in some kind of way – for example my song and the most amazing fans like you ;) Well honestly, it’s a hassle; it’s much more complicated then you think. Starting off so new in this lifestyle means studio recordings, guest starring on radio and talk shows, interviews and the cherry on top PAPARAZZI.

Paparazzi, paparazzi, paparazzi, I really wish that word had no definition; or even existed. With their cameras flashing at every angle paparazzi’s are like a bunch of bees swarming around for the honey. There far beyond handling, there uncontrollable. THERE CRAZY – I don’t know if I’ve entered the celebrity world or a death wish. There a disease with no cure, can’t get rid of them what so ever! There’s not a corner I turn where someone isn’t positioned with the camera waiting for my arrival. Though it does amaze me that they know where I’ll be, when sometimes I don’t even know =/ But, it’s gotten to the point where when I attempt to exit my front door I run into big, I mean BIG men called “bodyguards”. They’ve gotten so close enough where I can’t leave my house, or even re-locate! They’re everywhere, everyday and everything is about me, they want the answers, gossip even my next destination. Not used to seeing my face so much, makes me think differently of this life when I see myself on the internet, newspapers and magazines. Everything I do, my every move has to be thought out before proceeding – because all there thriving for is one flaw. No I’m not even close to being perfect but a common mistake is twice over exaggerated when it’s just a picture without my side of the story. You’d think that all this publicity is a blessing but it’s a curse. I’m put in a position of a deer, always to be aware before I get myself killed by a bigger animal, in my case bigger media. It just keeps on getting deeper.

It Used to be just a couple of innocent photo shoots and a couple of signings; shared moments with the friends; they loved the press, being pampered themselves. Losing touch now because they’re afraid to go out and be trampled by flashing cameras and video recordings. We can’t even walk down a street with no one following us or an unexpected group of camera men. They don’t stop, it’s like were being watched for doing some kind of crime.
